Average UK house price hits record of £289,099 but market starts to cool

The average house price in the UK hit a record high of £289,099 in May, after prices rose by 1% – the 11thconsecutive month of rises.  However, because of the rising costs of living pressures and food and energy bills, the market is showing signs of cooling, according to the Halifax House Price Index.
